The printer is one of the most needed and overlooked pieces of technology we have today. We use printers for a wide range of things; from professional work to personal use, we can be sure that the printer is needed. Using a printer is obviously quite easy, but understanding and even repairing a printer is a much different story. If you are in the latter group, it may be useful to learn a few basic things about your printer so you can properly troubleshoot any small problem that may arise.
Knowing your printer and how it works begins by understanding the type of printer you have. There are two main types of printers that your printer can be. The first most common type of printer is called the ink jet printer. An ink jet printer will use ink cartridges to print your documents and papers. One way to know if you have an ink jet printer is to touch the ink when it just finishes printing; if it is still wet then you likely have an ink jet printer. The laser printer is the other most common type of printer. A laser printer uses laser technology to print your documents. It is important to know what type of printer you own so you will know how to repair it.
Once you have determined the type of printer you own you must be able to trouble shoot any problems that arise. The good news is that many printer problems are quite easy to repair, even for the novice printer owner.
One of the most common printer repairs is refilling the ink cartridge. If your printer is relatively new, it should show an error message on its front screen or on the computer that says it is either low or out of one or more types of ink. If this is the case, you should be able to head to the store and find the right type of replacement ink for your printer. If you know that your printer is rather old, you will need to do some investigative work. The best way to test this is to print a document that uses all the types of ink in your printer. If an area on your document looks either off color, spotty, faded, or blank, you will know that the specific type of ink for that area is either low or totally out; you can go to your office supply store to pick up replacement cartridges.
If you know that you can repair your printer by finding replacement ink, make sure you know the type, make, and model of your printer before heading to the store. If you purchase the wrong cartridge for your printer there will undoubtedly be more problems to repair. Hopefully these easy printer repair tips will help you in the future. No one in the office ever knows how to fix the printer. Well it's that or they just refuse to do it. I think I might use your article as a work improvement presentation. http://www.aoscorp.net/Copier___Printer_Service.html
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that the printer is a very important tool. When I was in school I found myself printing essays and other assignments every other day it seemed like. It was important to me (and still is today) that fixes happened as quickly as possibly. I found that some common things that needed taken care of were paper jams, broken rollers, and ink refills of course.
